Vipul is a GDC-registered Specialist in Periodontics with wide experience in Medicine, Surgery, Implants & Sedation. He undertakes all aspects of Periodontology, to include non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapies, hard/soft tissue grafting around teeth/implants; implant placement/restoration; advanced anaesthesia using oral/intravenous sedation.
Vipul is unique amongst his peers, being dual qualified in both Dentistry and Medicine. He graduated Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield in 2000 and subsequently Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Distinctions & Prizes from St George’s Hospital Medical School, London in 2005. He then worked as a Medical Doctor in London teaching hospitals gaining broad experience in General/Emergency Medicine, General/Emergency Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, Head & Neck Surgery.
To widen his knowledge and skills he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry (PGDip Imp) from the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London; Memberships of the Faculty of Dental Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MJDF RCS Eng) and Edinburgh (MFDS RCS Edin); and a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation (PGDip Sed) from the University of Newcastle.
After gaining further clinical experience in Periodontology & Implantology in California (Loma Linda University) and Philadelphia (University of Philadelphia), he embarked on full-time Specialist Periodontal and Implant training at the world-renowned Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, which culminated in successful completion of a Masters in Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent Perio) in 2020. Additionally, he gained a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry from the European Federation of Periodontology (CCST Perio/Imp), and was awarded Memberships in Periodontics from both the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MPerio RCS Eng) and Edinburgh (MPerio RCS Edin).
His academic research interests focus on periodontal and peri-implant diseases, their systemic manifestations at clinical/molecular levels and their effective management using novel techniques. He lectures locally and nationally; and is on the interview panel for prospective medical school applicants at St Georges, University of London. He was a Clinical Teacher in Oral Surgery at the Sheffield School of Clinical Dentistry teaching undergraduates/postgraduates. He is Past Chair of the Early Careers Group of the British Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (BSP); a member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP); a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI); a member of the Resus Council UK; and a member of the Society to the Advancement of Anxiety Control in Dentistry (SAAD).
Vipul currently attends selected private practices specialising in comprehensive periodontal and dental implant surgery, utilising conscious sedation where needed, in medically compromised patients. Due to his breadth and depth of clinical and surgical experience he provides an unparalleled and unique level of care to his patients and takes pride in achieving a balance of exceptional surgery, delivered through evidence based academic principals, in a calm and safe manner. He welcomes referrals from dental practitioners and direct patient access, where his services may be of assistance.
