The extremes of cosmetic dentistry, represented by TV celebrities with implausibly white teeth and unnaturally straight veneers, may have taken hold of popular culture, but we prefer dentistry to be life-changing more subtly at our Weybridge dentist.
And a way that’s more sustainable for your natural teeth.
According to the Oral Health Foundation, about half the population (48%) are unhappy with their teeth, with discolouration being the most common reason.
At Portmore, our cosmetic dentists in Surrey offer a range of different treatments, such as teeth whitening and porcelain inlays to enable you to make discreet adjustments to your smile – responsibly and safely.
We’re interested in your long-term oral health as well as your short-term looks, and so when it comes to a treatment like veneers, for example, we’re clear about the implications for the natural tooth tissue underneath.
Our CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) machine allows us to scan your teeth and mill new crowns and veneers using computer-aided design/manufacturing software in the surgery while you wait, removing the need for multiple appointments.
This process typically involves three simple steps:
- After numbing, our dentists will either take scans or impressions of your mouth
- We’ll use specialised computer software to design a custom-made model for your restoration to fit your teeth and mouth.
- Finally, the design specifications will be relayed to griding/milling equipment before it is placed and bonded to your teeth and any necessary adjustments are made.
A quarter of Brits have had some kind of cosmetic dentistry, with 18 per cent choosing veneers, according to the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, yet claims against dentists involving porcelain veneers doubled between 2005 and 2010.
In cases where teeth have already been damaged, veneers may be the best decision, and they can even strengthen weakened teeth, but at Portmore, we will always make an extra effort to make sure treatments like this are the right decision for you.
With the demand for veneers rapidly growing, everyone deserves to be able to find a safe and responsible provider of cosmetic dentistry.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY FAQ’S
How long your cosmetic procedure lasts depends on the nature of the treatment. Whilst some cosmetic procedures are considered permanent, others will need top-ups after a period of time.
In most cases, we aim to provide subtle cosmetic adjustments that will have a big impact without looking overly synthetic, such as teeth whitening. These smaller procedures are usually less long-term and will often need upkeep.
Some cosmetic dentistry treatments are irreversible, such as veneers – so it’s important to think carefully about what you want to achieve before making a decision.
We understand how important your smile is, which is why when it comes to pricing – we’ve tried to be as transparent as possible. The fees associated with cosmetic dentistry vary widely depending on the treatment you’re opting for, but we have tried to make our prices as competitive as possible across the board.
You can find a full list of our fees online, but we encourage you to speak with our team if you are considering cosmetic dentistry. We will always do our best to accommodate your situation.
Every individual is different, and so are their smiles. That’s why we offer an initial appointment to get to know you, your medical history and your goals.
In some cases, cosmetic dentistry may not be the best option, but here at Portmore Dental, we will always do our best by our patients. That means only ever suggesting the sorts of treatments that will be right for your specific circumstances.
We appreciate how much dental phobia can get in the way of you receiving the treatment you need, which is why we do so much to put our anxious patients at ease.
Depending on the type of cosmetic dentistry you’re looking for, you may feel that you need additional support to feel comfortable. The good news is that here at Portmore Dental, we offer a range of options to help you feel at ease, including, where necessary, sedation.
If you’re considering cosmetic dentistry but feel worried about your anxieties, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly team.
