The team at Portmore will be walking the Thames Path Challenge (a 50k walk!) on Saturday 8th September for our chosen charity which is Bridge2aid.
Across the developing world, people live in inescapable, excruciating pain because they lack access to emergency dental care, Bridge2aid is a fantastic charity that aims to provide access to simple, safe, emergency dental treatment to all. Like any charity, they need funds and donations to support their work.
The Thames Path Challenge is indeed a huge challenge! The entire walk is 100k over two days, and we have decided to join the trek on day 1, for the 50k walk. In case you are wondering, 50k is just over 30 miles! We will start the trek at 8am in the morning and would hope to finish by 6-8pm that same evening.
The Thames Path is unique; it’s the only long distance path to follow a river for most of its length. The full route begins at Bishop’s Park, next to Putney Bridge, and on through leafy Kew and Richmond past the last non-tidal lock at Teddington. It passes the Royal palace of Hampton Court, beneath Windsor Castle and on through beautiful countryside to Henley. A stunning route with scenery that’s steeped in history, we are all really looking forward to the day and planning our training as we speak!
Our ‘Just Giving’ page is currently being created, we will post the link in our next newsletter, please do support the team and this wonderful charity.
